A plain-English summary

The Author Partnership Agreement is the contract between you and Wisdom Audio Bank for the production, publication and distribution of the audiobook edition of your book. This page summarises what it covers in everyday language. It is a summary only: the binding terms are the agreement itself, which you read in full and sign electronically before any production begins.

  • •A non-exclusive, worldwide licence for 24 months
  • •You retain full copyright of your original work
  • •Your share of net receipts: 60% on individual sales, 70% of your allocated subscription revenue
  • •Monthly royalty reporting, paid in your chosen currency
  • •Either party can end the agreement on 30 days' notice if a material breach is not remedied

The licence

You grant Wisdom Audio Bank a non-exclusive, worldwide licence for 24 months, starting from the date the agreement is fully signed. During that term WAB may produce, host, market, sell and distribute an audiobook edition of your book through the Wisdom Audio Bank platform, including its website and mobile apps. The licence is non-exclusive: you keep every other right you hold today, and you are free to publish or license the work elsewhere.

Your copyright

Wisdom Audio Bank never acquires ownership of your book. You retain full ownership of the copyright in the original work, and nothing in the agreement transfers that ownership to WAB.

Revenue share

The agreement records the partnership model you selected, and how net receipts collected by WAB are shared:

  • •Individual Purchase: you receive 60% of net receipts from every eligible individual sale; WAB receives 40%.
  • •Subscription Distribution: your audiobook is included in the membership library and you receive 70% of your audiobook's allocated share of subscription revenue, based on qualifying listening time; WAB receives 30%.
  • •Preferred: your audiobook is sold for individual purchase at the 60/40 split and included in the membership library at the 70/30 subscription split.

What you confirm (your warranties)

In the agreement you confirm that you own or control the audiobook rights to the book, that the cover artwork you submitted may be used for the audiobook, that any publisher restrictions have been disclosed, and that any third-party content in the work is used with permission. These confirmations are also collected during the application, so nothing in the agreement should come as a surprise.

Production

WAB produces the audiobook edition and keeps you informed of production milestones. You may review and comment on production output at the review stages described in the publishing process, and nothing is published without your approval at each stage.

Reporting and payment

Royalties are reported monthly, and accrued royalties are paid in your chosen payment currency according to WAB's standard payout schedule, subject to the minimum payout threshold, to the payout account you nominate.

Term and ending the agreement

The initial licence term is 24 months. Either party may terminate the agreement on 30 days' written notice if the other party materially breaches it and does not remedy the breach within that period. If the agreement ends, WAB stops new distribution of the audiobook within 30 days and pays all royalties accrued up to the date of termination.

How signing works

When your application is approved, your agreement is generated and sent to you for electronic signature. The agreement you receive is an immutable snapshot of the exact terms: it never changes under you after signing. You read the complete agreement, request clarification or amendments if you need to, then sign electronically by typing your legal name. A Wisdom Audio Bank countersignatory then countersigns, and the agreement takes effect once both parties have signed the same version. Your signed agreement stays permanently available in your author dashboard.

Governing law

The agreement is the entire agreement between the parties regarding the audiobook edition of the work, and is governed by the laws of England and Wales, with the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
